Dredging Phase i Testing

The Testing of the Lake sediments was taken in 3 areas of the lake back in October 2024, the results is posted as a link to download, the full report shows the areas and results in each area. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hi Joe,

It was nice to speak with you the other day about dredging of Lime Lake.

Navigational dredged material (NDM) means that material, other than material dredged primarily to remove contamination, which is dredged or excavated from the waters of the State, including sediment, soil, mud, sand, shells, gravel or other aggregate, for the direct or indirect purpose of establishing, maintaining, or increasing water depth, or increasing the surface or cross-sectional area of the water body.

Reuse options for Excavated Dredged materials are based on the results from analytical testing:

It is necessary to sample the dredged sediments, perform chemical analysis and submit the results of analysis to the Department for review.

As a guideline, if the total dredge material will be less than 5,000 cubic yards, we recommend 1 sample per 1,000 cubic yards.

Each sample should be analyzed for the following parameters:

  • Volatile organic compounds (EPA 8260B)
  • Semi-volatile organic compounds (EPA 8270C),
  • Pesticides (EPA 8081A),
  • PCBs (EPA 8082),
  • Metals (EPA 6010B):  arsenic, barium, beryllium, cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, nickel, selenium, zinc.
  • Hexavalent chromium

Laboratory analyses must be performed by a laboratory currently certified by the New York State Department of Health’s Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP)

Let me know if you have any questions,

Joe,

Thank you for having the sediment tested and sharing the results with us.

After our Materials Management) review, comparing the analytical results with 6 CRR-NY Part 375 -6.8 soil Cleanup objective tables for Unrestricted Use, we think the dredged material will be able to be used in upland setting beneficially without restrictions.
